Beatrice Cave

Length: 42m  |  Grade: 5D  |  Surveyed: 1994-01-11

Extract from Fire Protection Booklet

Beatrice Cave is pretty and no crawling is necessary but it is very wet in winter. The name is in the left hand chamber.

The discoverers of this cave were inspired in their search by a hunter's tale of a buck, wounded in this vicinity, which, on being pursued, disappeared in a cleft leading into a large cave. They discovered the Beatrice Cave but it is not certain that this was the cave the buck took refuge in. An intensive search of these southern slopes failed to discover any other caves.

Beatrice Cave was named by Meyer in honour of Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands
