Black Balls Cave is an active sea cave formed in sandstone. The main cave is a tall slot with passages at various levels. The northern wall is a single slab, while the southern wall consists of the weathered ends of bedding planes. There are 2 bedding planes that have not completely eroded away, and have formed two passage floors. The link from sea-level to the first floor is at the back of the cave, and the step up to the next level is covered in black (manganese?) cemented conglomerate.
This middle level is a low chamber with a sloping floor. The entrance to the upper level is closer to the front of the cave, and the step up overlooks the entrance passage below. On the upper level, the floor is covered in a white slimy substance, a little like kaolin. This level terminates in a muddy chamber. There is a pile of dry bat guano in the chamber.
