Geloofs Grot Cave
Peter Swart, April 2026
I think Anthony either heard of this cave, or found it on a map, so he and I set out to visit it. We found it on a farm, and the friendly farmer directed us to this large, open overhang.
Even though it has no spelaeological significance, we were there, so we surveyed it.
This cave would have made an excellent shelter. There was evidence of earlier cave dwellers in the form of a large shell midden on one side of the cave.
We left after saying goodbye to the farmer, who was focused on taking photographs of his prize bull. He told us that this was very difficult, as he had to get the animal looking at the camera, but include the testicles in the picture.
